Why We Plant Trees

Why We Plant Trees

As RING BEAR is in the relationship business we know our customers are planning their futures and we see it as our responsibility to help make it a greener one. Internally we intentionally use recycled metals, recyclable packaging and work to eliminate waste. As a small yet growing business RING BEAR researched ways we could make a meaningful, long term impact and decided on planting trees with each purchase. This is Why We Plant Trees:

Trees are vital in cleaning the air, filtering water and provide habitat for over 80% of Earth's biodiversity. They even are used in key ingredients for a quarter of all Western medicine.  In fact, one mature tree can absorb up to 48lbs of carbon emissions per year.

Why We Plant Trees

Here are the 5 pillars that explain why trees are so vital:

Why Plant Trees: AIR

Through their leaves and bark, trees absorb harmful pollutants and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. In urban environments, trees absorb pollutant gases like nitrogen oxides, ozone, and carbon monoxide, and sweep up particles like dust and smoke.

Why Plant Trees: WATER

Trees play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides. Their intricate root systems act like filters, removing pollutants and slowing down the water’s absorption into the soil.  According to the UN Food and Agriculture Association, a mature evergreen tree can intercept more than 15,000 liters of water every year.

Why Plant Trees: BIODIVERSITY

A single tree can be home to hundreds of species of insect, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants. Without trees, forest creatures would have nowhere to call home.

Why Plant Trees: CLIMATE

Healthy, strong trees ABSORB carbon and help cool the planet. Increasing levels of carbon dioxide caused by deforestation and fossil fuel combustion trap heat in the atmosphere. Trees store harmful greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide into their trunks, branches, and leaves — and release oxygen back into the atmosphere. In cities, trees can reduce ambient temperatures by up to 45° F. With more than 50% of the world’s population living in cities pollution and overheating are becoming a real threat. Fortunately, a mature tree can absorb an average of 48lbs of carbon dioxide per year, making cities a healthier, safer place to live.

Why Plant Trees: PREVENTION

Wildfires are becoming an increasing threat to the way of life in places such as Western U.S. & Australia. A secondary effect of these fires are a reduction in local trees to prevent future fires and combat climate change. Wildfire smoke now accounts for 25% of all fine-particle pollution in the US, according to a study by researchers at Stanford that blames climate change for worsening air quality and health risks in both urban and rural communities. The researchers predicted dramatic health impacts if nothing is done to slow climate change by slashing emissions and better managing forests.

As you can see trees are an effective way of breaking the cycle and working towards global climate neutrality. We appreciate your support in allowing us to help contribute to a greener future.
